Shuraki Vol.4:Nida Schuetlich RAWR!!!!

Its finally done! I proudly present you my first figure shooting.I appreciate any comments on how to improve my figure shots, so feel free to criticize.The pictures arent avaiable in a higher resolution due to my inability to check the settings of the camera in advance.

So lets start this!

  • Name: Nida Schuetlich
  • Scale: 1/8 -> about 21 cm tall
  • Manufacturer: Goodsmile X Red Entertainment
  • Design: Shunya Yamashita
  • Sculpt: Shunjii Hagii
  • Castoff: Yes
  • Price: about 38€

I guess i dont have to say too much about the Shuraki Series, since everybody whos atleast a bit interested in PVC Figures knows about them.The figure comes loaded with an Artbooklet,Drama CD,a battle damaged outfit,gun and knive.I didnt really listen to the Drama CD yet but im pretty sure its the same high quality as the other epsiodes were.The Artbook is top notch as usually and nice to look at.

Thats enough talk about the goodies so lets get to the part why youre here: the figure.Nida is my favorite figure up to date due to Yamashitas design and Haagis awesome sculpt.The other Shuraki Figures are great as well (Mei Feng gets a close second place) but Nida just hit the right spot.It seems that im in the minority with that opinion since Nida was the worst selling figure of the Shuraki series.I can only think of one reason for that:not moe enough.Oh well…Less Nida for them means more Nida for me :D

The Sculpt and Paintjob both are very well done ad look awesome even in close up.The Same goes for the gun that has 2 display options: with long barrel and even longer barrel.If you get the urge to change Nidas clothes it can be done quite easily(It took me half an hour to get Mei Feng dressed again).

I can recommend her from the bottom of my heart.If you like girls with guns shes your thing!

Rrrrr…Nice Back

Check out the scope: It even has a little plastic lens!

Nice Wrinkles on the boots

  1. nice photos :)

    but a lil bit blurry ^^; anyway to set f/stop on the camera?

  2. Looks like your Setup works fine now, but they could be a little bit sharper… but looks better than my indoor-trials
    (I need a DSLR, cause normal cameras are just…*** censored *** , but I don’t have the money atm)

    Which camera do you use?

  3. nida is my favourite out of the series. ^^
    i also want to know what camera u used?

  4. @ron~ whats f/stop? Im still new to the digital camera buisness thats why i dont know the whole jargon yet^^

    @ Hikky/Gordon I used the cheap 6 MP Jenoptik Camera of my mother for the shots.My Settings were the following: Shake Stabilizer,ISO 100,White Balance on Daylight and Macro Modus.
    I think the pictures turned out a bit blurry because the Autofocus isnt working too good.Its alright to shoot landscapes and groups of people with the camera but when you take closeups its having a hard time.

    A DSLR would be sweet but as far as i know they start around 400€.Does anybody know a good compact camera?Most i saw so far couldnt take good closeups.

  5. Nice pics :) but i don’t like Nida at all , sorry about that :(

    I like only two shuraki :(

    The best compact camera is the panasonic fz18 (my opinion ^^) and you can find it for quite cheap on ebay :)

  6. They’re actually pretty good considering it’s a first shoot. The first shot is nice, though I’d move the top light a little bit more behind her.

    One of the things that’s making them look weird is how you’re resizing them. I think the latest version of WordPress fixed the resizing issue 2.5 had, so you might look at upgrading to get smoother scaling of the images in your post.

    What specifically are you looking for help with this set. I find it’s best to work on one thing at a time, rather than try to improve everything all at once. I think you got the lighting part down enough to improve it intuitively as you go.

    You might want to work on, as ~ron suggested, with depth of field. An open setting like F4.5 will give you a shallower field of focus where something more closed like F16 will give you a wider depth of focus. Using the field of sharpness is an important part of composing a shot.

  7. @James
    No need to apologize!I dont like the typical Moe Figures at all.Its alright to have your opinion :D
    Wich two do you like?

    @Superrats
    Thanks for the advice! Ill take a deeper look into the depth of field.

  8. The two i like are Ryu Meifeng and Rize ^^

    But i didn’t buy them as i got bored before getting them after seing reviews and pics of all the shurakis girls at all blogs and sites … it’s like everyone got them so it was a no for me ^^

  9. Its easier to count the people who havent got a Shuraki Figure than vice versa.^^
    So youre one of the guys that is after the limited Figures?
    I dont care if its limted or anything as long as the girl appeals to me.

  10. for a good compact camera, u may consider mine, the nikon COOLPIX P5100. it takes very good closeup shots. ^^

  11. hmm awesome photo shoot in my humble opinion^^Sure beats all mine haha so your at a great start,but as others said it’s a tad blurry.More focus and less blur;)

    I don’t have a good camera ether so your not alone.My camera makes my pictures seem..idk..weak to others:(But I should be getting a better one before Christmas so yeah*longtime;P*

    Anyways brands that I find to be best are Canon,Sony,and Nikon.At least time knowledge*people have other opinions^^* but go check amazon,you should find a whole list of great cameras at cheap prices,then if you find one you want order it or go see if it’s at best buy or something^-^

  12. Very nice first try. Like the foreshortened shot of the gun.

    I would also recommend that you increase the ISO to 200 or 400. ISO 100 on most digital cameras is meant for outdoor daylight photography. Also increasing the ISO will allow you it use larger f number while maintaining a shutter speed that can be used without a tripod. You might look around for a used DSLR as people upgrade to the new model the often sell the older model. I’ve seen 8MP Cannon Digital Rebels go for $200US (about 125€).

  13. That looks good for your first time! Nida looks more mature so she stands out among her ‘sisters’ in the series.

    Btw that rifle looks incredibly long (like an anti-material sniper rifle)! Just wondering but is it heavy? Won’t like to have that to bend or it to cause the figure to bend, but I think that Max Factory usually has good quality products.

  14. Thanks for all the advice guys!

    @Q
    The Rifle is actually really lightweight.I dont think that shes going to bend because of its weight.Shes a good balanced figure.
    Rizfis is the black sheep among the Shurakis.Her dress is really heavy and caused quite alot Pegs to break.I was lucky an read about it before mine arrived.I display her in battledamages mode for safety reasons.^^
    Besides that her halberd wont fit in both hands because of her breasts :(

  15. The figure with the jacket is gorgeous…. I want it so much…. it would take over the place of my favourite figure. If I was ever able to own it :sob:

    And no… as far as I’m aware, theres no english trans for any To Heart game, which really sucks! Considering how popular they are an all…

    I’ve always loved that Nida figure…. she’s just so pretty…. and such an awesome sculpt…. Very cool pics. Wish I had a camera that decent to take pics of my figures with. And wish I had a setup to take pics with lol

  16. (Whats a Digipack? lol) I will post more stuff on the other SE, since it will make good posts. :grin: Volume one came with a lovely, pretty box/chest to hold all the DVD’s and CD’s you get.

  17. Hey Blowfish, thanks for dropping by my blog

    Anyway, these are some very nice shots of Nida! I opened mine the other day but I somehow managed to leave a scratch on her chest – well angry at myself!

    I’m looking forward to your other photoshoots!

    p.s, I think you mentioned ordering Shunya’s Wild Flower artbook – have you received it yet? I ordered mine a while ago but it’s yet to arrive -_-

  19. @Samanosuke
    Damn! Id kick myself in the butt for scratching her chest.I wonder how you managed to do that?If i remember it correctly I was able to unbox her quite easy.Maybe you can cover the scratch with the other outfit?

    I still havent got the Artbook!I ordered mine through Playasia…

    @philthylizard
    Its good that tastes are different ^^

  20. I got my Nida recently as well, I took her into the ‘jungle’ to take pictures.

    So Nida was the lowest selling Shuraki series? that’s interesting .. I guess girls with swords > girls with guns in japan? I personally can’t decide .. I think I took some pictures of Nida with Saber’s Excalibur, not sure if i uploaded them in my blog though.

    Eddies last blog post..Figma Vs Revoltech?
