About one year ago the infamous Anime School Days ended with its popular Nice Boat Ending.I somehow managed to stay pretty spoilerfree all the time and i finally started watching the series.One of the few things I know is that the anime gets pretty nasty and bloody in the later episodes.I know that its based on the VN but due to my lack of Japanese Skills I never touched it.What got me to watch this series was on the one hand curiosity about the famous Nice boat and on the other hand the Love Story thats going wrong.Id like to see that more often than the usual Lovey Dovey stuff.
The series starts off like the usual Romance Anime(including opening) sans the Comedy part and you wont expect anything drastic to happen throughout the series.As the story unfolds more and more Characters lose their white vest and stain it with nasty character traits.Im up to Episode 7 right now and Makoto turned out to be a pretty awful prick that seems to be driven only by his sexual desire,making him easily one of the most hated characters ever created.The whole misfortune thats going to rain on the protagonists is starting to shape up vaguely in the distant sky and im really excited to see where the story is heading.You know that something will be going wrong and you start to look out for every hint to complete the puzzle thats leading to the nice boat ending.
Did you watch Schooldays?Im definately hooked and gonna finish it as soon as possible (i did after finsihing this post)
EDIT: OMFG!!! im at a loss of words…This has to be the most disturbing anime i have seen in a long time.Im so disgusted at Makotos ways…The later episodes are a downward spiral into hell.Just when you think it cant get any worser something else happens…This Anime did something that very few movies/series have done: it really made me feel something and gave me a rollercoasterride.Everything went crazy and i cant believe what happened.I didnt think that the anime would have taken this way and take me down with it.
I gotta sleep over this but man this anime is really something…I cant tell right now if its a masterpiece or just a glorification of sex and violence

I cant tell when im getting the next figure review up.Im still waiting for my next order to arrive and my mother needed her digital camera.If im lucky ill be able to buy one myself soon and then ill post reviews of the 2 remaining shurakis.

Hmm, I’ve been holding out on this anime for a while now because I don’t really care for excessive violence, but then again I need something to replace Code Geass, maybe this one won’t be too bad… I don’t think my wife would watch it though, we’ll see… I am curious about the whole thing but I’ve been holding back. Maybe I will give it a try, a few episodes to see if I get sucked into it.
Persocoms last blog post..Code Geass R2 Finished (No Spoilers)
Only the last Episode is featuring excessive violence but the second half is already bad enough without violence.
The first few episodes arent that interesting but when the antagonist to the girl he likes takes her turn things start to get interesting.
Woah gotta sleep now im still stunned
though i haven’t watched the anime yet, as with most visual novels (well, in this case, animated novel?), the anime adaptation only gives you one interpretation of the story… and in this case, the game has over 20 different endings, so there may still be some merit in checking the game out ^^;
i admit i did watch the ending of the anime to see what the fuss was about… i think it was more violent than any of the game endings i saw. there are happy endings thrown into the mix too, so the game’s not all blood and grief.
if anyone’s interested in exactly how much content the game has… here’s a walkthrough table that shows all the paths to the different endings. (in japanese, and the table only has chapter titles, so only spoiler material if you’re good at reading)
http://undying-memories.hp.infoseek.co.jp/gamereview/school_days/capture.html
basically each cell of the table (that has a unique title) represents a unique chapter of the game.

I prefer it when they go only one Route of the VN instead of packing all Routes into one series like they did for example with Kanon.It feels pretty weird otherwise.
SchoolDays already had some very unlikely plot points and Character changes and i dont wanna know what would have happened if they tried to put even more inside.The Main Motivation of the viewer is to watch happy people go down the drain,its sad but human nature,and they really did a good job on provocating the viewer with the Protagonists actions.
To be honest i wasnt really shocked by the ending.What got me was the reckless behavior some characters developed as the series progressed.
Id love to check out the VN but i guess theres no point in trying if you cant understand a thing.Im pretty curious about the other endings tough.If i remember right theres also a Prequel called Summer days right?
Thanks for the Link!
I watched the anime last year, when it was airing. Makoto is a bastard pretty much, and the violence was just ooo~lala~lala. lol. Blood is black, which was pretty lol. But they changed for reason (stabbing incident at akiharaba)
But will not consider to watch it again, not ever -_-

Pretty innocent title for such drama and trainwreck-finale anime I have to say… Although I haven’t watch School Days, I was told that it was pretty unpleasent, and indeed it seems to stand out a lot from other series. The only other opinion I’ve heard from another forum friend back then was “it’s very drama o_o”.
Given the nature of this anime, along with my current mood and location, I don’t think I will plan to watch it in the near future. One way or the other, I think that the name “School Days” would leave something to everybody who encountered it, whether they have watched it or not.

School Days is pretty messed up, but as I was saying back at the Nice Boat Anniversary (just a week before), it can make sense depending on how you look at it. Of course, that doesn’t make Makoto any less of a jerk >_>

mmm i believe summer days is indeed a prequel although it’s on an alternate story line (i.e., what if they had met under these circumstances) so except for having the same characters I don’t think it ties in with the school days plot. …then there’s the kokoro content… -_-;;;
if you’re able to enjoy anime without subs, you might be able to understand the game pretty well since it’s animated ^_^

@zenical
Yeah i dont intend to watch it anytime soon either.Pretty Harsh stuff
@Q
Yeah i wouldnt recommend you to watch this series in a bad mood.I was in a pretty good mood and it got me down pretty bad.The Title suggests something completly different from what you get served.
@james
I cant understand People watching the last episode or last chapter of a series/book…the whole context and suspense gets lost in my opinion.i guess you just wanted to know what all the fuss was about
@eternal
Actually youre post made me pick up the series ^^
Alot of things would make more sense if id rewatch the series but i dont feel like that at all.^^
@meronpan
Thanks for the info!
Maybe ill give it a try^^
I’m still scarred by the ending but seriously, it was a bloody good series. No matter how f**ked up it was, it was damm good. xD
I finished it in 2 days. I was hooked instantly when the betrayal began.
I should have celebrated the anniversary by re-watching it again. ^^
*Already marked it for a re-watch* =D

I finished the series in one day^^ It got intertesting as soon as the betrayal began.I still dont think im going to rewatch it any time soon.I had enough of that for the next time
I wouldnt call this a masterpiece…but a trainwreck of massive proportions! This anime gave the ending EVERYONE wanted. They made Makoto look like a real JERK…Well, he is (was)really a JERK but multiplied by 10x in the anime. About rewatching this, wow, a year has passed, I havent watch it ever since….It is just painful to watch…I prefer to play the game instead.

hahah I saw it awhile ago (hmm…I guess maybe about a year or more now) and was brought down that same road you were
I was so engrossed in what was going to happen next though, and although the main character got what he deserved, perhaps things were still done in a bit extreme way. BUT…that’s what’s so good about this series I think. People might not like the show because it ends violently or whatever because it’s totally not what they expected, but in my opinion it’s because it goes so awry that makes it an enjoyable watch. For a few weeks after I finished watching the show, I couldn’t stop thinking about it haha. I might revisit this again sometime. It’s in one of my top 5-10 “romance” series.

I dont like beeing a bad guy or doing bad things thats propably why i hated him for his actions that much.I once started playing Bible Black and i absolutely hated it because you had to be a prick.
School Days had such a huge impact on me…i still cant believe it.Maybe ill rewatch it when grass grew over the whole thing and i can watch it more objective
