Okay,okay i admit that i took my time and didnt update the blog the last few days…I wasnt totally lazy tough and worked a bit on my Kit.Its nothing major but ill show you did this time how to pin your kit.

After you sanded your Kit properly and got rid of all the flash you should mock assemble the kit to look for potential gaps to fix before youll start to paint it.You basically drill holes into her torso and limbs,stick a pin (in my case a cut off nail) inside those and youre ready to go.Sounds very easy huh?It is!

Note that i skipped the washing part.Im going to do that right before i start to paint.
So what will you need?
- A Drill (It doesnt matter if its a Dremel or a handdrill both works and you probably have one or the other at home)
- Pins (In my case Ikea Nails leftovers from my last shelf.)
- A plier to cut the nails (once again probably at home)
Thats it!
We want to drill the holes in a way that they are more or less on the same location on both pieces.Take a look at both and check if theres something like a mark where to drill.If theres nothing like that just do it freestyle or mark it with a pen if youre the more acurate type.When you start drilling with a dremel,like me,be careful to not apply to much pressure or you might end up on drilling through the piece.It happened to me and i had to fix the hole with some putty :/
I drilled holes into both parts and ill have to fit the pin now.Notice that i used paperclips in the images but those turned out to be too weak and i ended up using nails.The steps remain the same tough.
Thats it! Just repeat that with every big piece of the figure and youre done with the pinning.I said that is easy!
Instead of the paper clips i used these Ikea nails and their doing their job just fine.
You can see my mock assembled figure in the very first picture.Youll see the parts that need some puttying due to gaps now pretty clearly and start to fix them.I tried that a few days ago but failed pretty bad.Thats why im writing another post about that topic in the next days.
Ill show you how i fixed the hole i drilled into Narus leg though.I just smeared some putty onto her leg and made sure that enough of it was pushed into the hole in her leg.
I gave the Putty a day to dry and sanded off all the excess putty.Dont sand to hard otherwise youll sand away too much.TADA!! As good as new
Ooooo she looks like a real figure now!!! Just no hair and missing a right arm lol.
And yes, my bedsheets RAWK! lol

Oh, I never knew you had to drill the holes yourself! I would have probably tried paper clips myself. It’s really helpful to see someone building their first kit as well as the videos from the experts. Particularly, it takes some of the I’ll probably ruin my first kit, since you’re showing that even a novice can fix their mistakes.

I’ve read other tutorials and they recommend Mr.Surface (a mixture of putty and thinner, pretty much a watered down thinner) to fill holes and stuff, since pushing putty in won’t fill the whole thing.

I hope that this will help other people to start with a kit.
Resin is actually pretty forgiving since youre able to fix most mistakes with putty.Builders with experience are able to pull off really awesome mods with putty and different figure parts.It reaches from simple clothe mods to basically totally new figures

There are basically 2 Steps left now before the painting begins: Puttying Gaps and Priming.I wont be able to paint the figure until the ende of the month because i dont have any money left to buy the paint XD
I hope these posts encourage you to try yourself at one in the future^-^
One time costs… Even paints? Do those come with the kit or do you have to get your own? XD

Interesting, interesting~ It looks like that it requires more skills than making a military model! At least I haven’t really seen a model that requires pinning for assembly (except for some crazy expensive resin Gundam models from B-Club)

Its not required to pin but advised since it helps to keep things in place and supports the figure when its glued together.
Even know i cant Understand how you could put this much pressure on her leg to drill it through but im pleased that the photos i shot turned out halway decent anyway what i wanted to ask are the pins so big that they hold the figure togehter ? this way it would be easier to see the gaps and so on

) kinda turned me away… Plus there are things in my life right now I should take care of first before pursuing any sort of hobby like this…. >< I actually first thought about trying resin kits more than 8 years ago when I really wanted a Hoshino Ruri (Nadesico) figure but was even more put off then by the fact that I had absolutely no idea what the heck resin was back then.
nice tutorial so far! Funny I was actually looking at resin kits at e2046 a few days ago, thinking about getting one since they were on sale, though it’s over now. Thought I’d go for a cheapie one to start off, but then all the work and all that and no prior knowledge (haven’t looked at vids and tuts like you’ve linked to lol
I’ll be keeping an eye out for the rest of your build though. If I ever do decide to get into it, hope you don’t mind if I start askin some questions ^^

This figure was fairly cheap too.I paid 15 € for it so it wont be that bad when i mess her up.
