I'm sorry to hear that. It seems like that the economic crisis this year is affecting everyone in all sorts of ways (directly or indirectly). On one side, it's considerable for your boss to tell you about that in advance rather than leaving 'til December, so you have enough time to prepare. I do hope things will get better for you though!
