Suprises,Suprises…
Ive had another batch of figures in todays mail! There are 2 packages left for this month and i fear that customs picked up my Gathering order.Seems like ill lose around 50 Bucks once again before Rei and Asuka are mine!Im not going write about them but todays boxes that came with some suprises.
Ill start with the unpleasant one: I really had high hopes in Art Storms Lilics series and their first figure Canal.I love Shunya Yamashita Designs and the Promotional pics looked great.Sadly Canal turns out to be worlds apart from those pictures.They really,really messed up her shading:what was supposed to look like shaded skin looks more like bruises or a sunburn.Come on! Who chooses pigpink as shadingcolour for a pale girl?
It doesnt look nearly as bad in the picture as it is in reallife!My camera wasnt able to catch the disaster.I really,really,really hope they dont mess up my other ArtStorms Preorder (LimitGunz) aswell and that this Paintjob isnt the norm.Their other Shunya Yamashita Figure (Nasca) looked amazing in the promotional pictures and Im really looking forward to her reviews.Im quite sceptical that shell turn out as gorgeous in the end.Another problem I have encountered with Canal is that her feet dont really fit on the pegs of the base.Its usually not a big deal with PVC figures bendy legs but it seems like her legs are made out of ABS(thats probably the reason why they are so glossy aswell).
Does the usual hairdryer/warm water trick work with ABS after all?The legs wont move an inch without for sure!
Now to the other NSFW suprise:
WHAT?No Pantsu?
I was really suprised to see that Nyx is wearing no pantsu.I was baffled when i casted her off for the plastic removal.Atleast i know now why that tentacle/Eye-thingy is staring up her legs ^^ I wonder if the same goes for Airi?
The last thing ive got today was the Dengeki G Festival and it was the only thing without suprises

Hmmm its your luck again huh? you always get problems with your stuff first your yoko and then this .. reaaaaly hope that your rei and asuka will turn out better

egads poor canal… it does look like they totally missed the mark on that one ;_; perhaps some choice lighting or display placement will alleviate the issue (slightly? ^^;) ?
grats on nyx ^_^ airi does have pantsu, at least the blond version does. magenta ones at that

Maybe I should’ve got the Dengeki G Festival at Kino.
It could’ve also been my first Dakimakura as well. lol

I see it even on the picture. That does look rather sunburned indeed. Downright made me shudder. That looks like Ouch!

The thing with Canals shading really has put me down.It looks like a cheap fake but is actually a full price figure…When Im thinking what I could have bought from Alter or GSC for that price it hurts even more.

Yeah im pretty unlucky with PVC Women lately :/
The Gathering figures have to look gorgeous.If not ill jump out of the window thinking about the price ive paid for them ^_^

I still cant follow the thoughts of the people that thought that this might look good…
The shading wont look as bad as depicted when that part is highlighted but you can highlight every part of her. Gah this really has got me down
Nyx is a fine figure for that price even tough those thorns drive me crazy ^^

~Uguu, I see what you mean with Canal here… Yes, indeed this only worries me more about Maru and Moro.. but as the only true figure from xxxHolic I’ll be taking my risks (unless promo pix are horrid). Enough with surprises, why can’t they just not touch figures after the promo pictures.. In this day and age, we should have 3D 360 degree or more rotating images for promotionals on sites, that way we can thoroughly inspect what we’re buying beforehand.
