Aerocat Rei
Sega Prize figures are always a game of hit and and miss.Sega sometimes delivers astounding quality for its low price and sometimes utter crap where you wonder why they released the figure in the first place.My first experience with Sega figures were the DOA EX figures and they were a pretty mediocre outing.Pretty visible seamlines and an overall glossy skin didnt make them as favorable as they could have been.They were still pretty nice for their low,low price .This time ive ordered another Sega Prize Figure set depicting the girls of Evangelion as cats and their quality is on a different level.
I am really happy how these kittens turned out.The weak points of the DOA EX Summer beach figures (seamlines,glossy skin) are nearly nonexistent and the PVC Material feels alot better.Rei and Asuka are alot heavier than their DOA counterparts even though of smaller scale and the touch of the figures feels alot better.They wont come close to the big guys in the buisness but they are fabulous for their pricerange (paid 8€ a piece).
I have absolutely no idea what those wings on the back of the girls are supposed to be but what i know is that i like the sculpt of the girls.The sculpter managed to catch the personalities of the girls and recreate them in neko-mode.Ill start off with Rei today and the cottonbed i prepared for her.Sadly things didnt turn out the way I wanted ^^;;
I like those small cat symbols on her shoulder
Her left bloodred eye is freaking me out a bit ^^;;
I request an EROcat version of Rei as next Sega Prize figure

That’s just bizarre, since if Rei struck a pose like that it would be freaky. It’s amusing, though as I’m writing this I’m starting to get weird thoughts about how I wouldn’t mind a neko Rei cosplayer to be posing like that…

hoo, i preordered this one but cancelled, now I may pick them (asuka and rei) when I go to Japan this year. It’s quite easy to find SEGA prize figurine there
SEGA prize recent figurines quality is actually quite nice, very worth the money

Sega prize figures are surprisingly good at times like the Rei one…the Haruhi ones are also good…

@Blowfish: Haha, I agree with Super Rats. This isn’t really Rei’s personality. But who cares? As for those wing-like things, it might possibly be a vague reference to the alternate ending with Rei’s super-gigantic angel form. But that’s a stretch too, lol.
P.S. That’s not a wool bed. That’s supposed to be a cloud, right? ^_^;

Hmm I think the photos are a little too dark (not enough lighting) but that’s probably just me.
After looking at the photos, I got the impression that they are taken some time back and have turned slightly yellowish; like those photos taken and kept for some time and then they turn yellow. But that’s probably me @_@.

Yeah,i must admit that it isnt a very Rei like pose but the Pose Neko Asuka Strikes is very much like her.

My Inital thought was Cat= fluffy Rei= Angel Cloud =fluffy and a place where angels hang out
I dont think those wings come from her angelbeeing.Asuka has them aswell.Maybe those are what qualifies them as Aerocats?

holy crap that figure is awesome! Also, I don’t think your pictures didn’t turn out as bad as you make them out to be. For a prize figure, this is really impressive. It’s probably a good thing you can’t actually get these in UFO catchers and the likes in the US, or I’d never have money to spend on figures online.

I want the Asuka…. the newer EVA girls from sega seem to be pretty good. The Poyoyon rock designs are so cute. I have the swimsuit one. I want the witch too…. Both Asuka. Not Rei….

Not bad but not exactly my thing. I’m thinking of getting the Haruhi girls (the much cheaper “extravaganza” version) that’s coming out later (it’s 45 USD for all three I think). This one is too moe for me >.<

I have Asuka aswell but im overall more the Rei Type.Asuka may be a fellow german but i still dont like her as a character

I def agree that SEGA figures are def a hit or miss thing. I usually don’t mind the risk though since their price isn’t so bad. Plus when they do turn out great you just can’t help but feel so proud over what a good deal you got! I’m smiiling from ear to ear over my Haruhi EX Live figures!

ahhh i’ve been lookin forward to see how these prize figures turn out ^^
I have the sweet witches rei and asuka and they are quite nice for prize figures…kinda made me want to collect on all the other rei and asuka figures designed by guest illustrators (especially the Okama ones hehe)
