Rei: All grown up (NSFW)
Im done with my first day at my new job and here I am with a spanking new Shoot of my Gathering Rei figure! Ive already posted the review of the matching Asuka back in February and hope youll enjoy these pictures as much as the other ones.Hit the jump and check out the adult Version of our favorite red eyed,blue haired,bandage wearing babe!
Rei is based on a genuine Shunya Yamashita Design in contrast to Asuka whos only inspired by Yamashitas Art Style.Reflect,the dude behind the sculpting, did an awesome job and i generally like his works like the Yamato Poison or Kaiyodo Cammy I own.This is like all Gathering works a pre-painted Garagekit and differs in two points from the Yamato Rei PVC.Most noticeable is that the GK Rei comes bandaged as any Fetishist Rei Fan wants ^^.The fact thats shes cast-off in the chest area isnt as obvious but very neat done via a magnetic feature.Paintjob and Detail are truly superb like expected of a Gathering Figure.
I went a bit overboard with the props this time but ive had some time and lots of bandages flying around.One thing lead to the other 
Ive been kinda unhappy with the lighting of my last shoots.I cant really tell whats the problem but i know somethings wrong ^^

Very nice figure, but I can’t say I’m really one for the design…kinda feels less like Rei, and more of a woman in her mid to late 20s cosplaying as Rei…
Also, I demand pictures of said hot female neighbour.

Beautiful figure. Lovely choice of atmosphere and background. Got Canal some time back. Her face reminds me of a girl who cakes on foundation. It’s really not that bad because whenever I look at it and wonder what happened, I always say to myself “Well, at least it’s not $80 Enterbrain Rider.” Nasca is much much better looking than her and her pose is pretty cute.

I was soooooo close to buying this GK Rei. I opted for the PVC version, but I really loved the magnetic part of it lol. I still regret to this day for not getting it. It was discounted too >_<

Nett. Wobei mir gefällt die Rori Version von Rei chama ja um einiges mehrbessser. Was ich sehr schade finde, ist die Tatsache, das Gathering in den letzten paar Monaten gar keine Figuren für den moe besessenen Ota Otoko mehr herausbringt – immer nur noch Oneesamas mit grossen Möpsen, die aussehen als hätten sie das 14teLebensalter schon längst überschritten. Bah.

I like the idea of setting … is innovative and photos are very successful.
I also have the gathering of Rei, but I already have the Yamato .. I fear that it be duplicated.

As i kinda don’t like Yamashita at all , i won’t say anything on this one , not my style and too much ecchi too :p

Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of Shunya Yamashita works. That said, I will make this one an exception. ^^
I like the lighting u used. I just think it gives her that glow from the bg. ^^

This is one my favourites although admittedly she doesn’t really look like the Rei Ayanami we know. I don’t care. What I like most about her is her face. It shows that it pays off to design a real face in contrast to the generic snub nose and a slit as mouth.
The bandages in her face look good but the attached one looks too fake, especially close up. I guess that’s why they designed a variant without it.

Of course, the photos are much better. Maybe that makes the biggest difference. Though the hair looks a bit more detailed and less blobby. The skins tone looks more realistic – maybe it’s just the lightening. Yours also turns out silvery instead of white on the photos. I like especially the look of the lip-gloss. On the other hand, your version has an even more realistic face when you look from her left side.
By the way, you really shouldn’t cover her feet as you did on the first photo because twisting her left leg and standing on her toes is part of what makes this pose extra delicious. At first I thought this was just a “bust” with only her upper legs.

The coloring on the skin seems weird, Asuka’s version seems better, the nose is kinda funny xD perhaps a bit to big

The whole design makes or break the figure.Its a Rei figure that doesnt look one bit like Rei but that was one of the main attractions to me.Im a total Sucker for Shunya Yamashita Artworks and one of my favorite figures on the market.
I dont have any pictures of her but i can describve her:

Shes one of my favorite figures on the market and I dont regret the purchase.Totally worth it.Kanaru isnt as bad as Enterbrains Rider ^^ . I felt really disappointed when ive got her though.I was really excited since last summer when the first promo pictures surfaced and the end product didnt satisfy my expectations.I never imagined that id be more critical on a figure than you
Nasca was on my list aswell but I canceled my order after the Kanaru letdown.Might reconsider though.

Shes one of my favorite figures aswell.im not a big fan of the typical Anime Design and im always excited when a Yamashita Design Figure is announced.I dont think they appeal to the normal Anime Fan but who cares?
Same goes for the fact that shes doesnt really look like Rei.Isnt that the point of Artworks of a well known Character from a different Artist?You can see the same design a 100 times but in my opinion a totally different take on a character is really refreshing.
The PVC and GarageKit Version both have their merits but in the end I went for the Garagekit.I havent seen the PVC in person so I cant really tell anything about its quality.I completley agree that her bandages look kinda clunky due to the thick paint application.Ive seen some interesting mods that make them look more interesting but i wont mess with this beauy.
It wanst initally planned that her legs and feet were covered.I started of with some pics where the bandages were wrapped around her body and then i didnt remove them from the legs.Simple case of not thinking ^^
Ill try to remember this the next time.

wow shes got some junk in the trunk,like the lighting sorta,a nice warm glow on her too. The suite looks cool,all shiny and stuff,but I much prefer the one without bandages:/ great review:)

mmmm she’s a real beauty. i’ve been wanting to make an outrageous purchase for a while but due to my sustained medium insane spending i have no budget for highly insane purchases ^^;;;

I never did see the appeal of Shunya Yamashita designs. They never really did anything for me (except for mirei-san). I’m more of a traditional rei fan, I think.
Likewise, I don’t quite feel the same kind of love for the E2046 Gathering section as other people do. I do own one, A vispo sculpted Asuka on Motorbike, and I must say that she’s great to look at, but with the very high cost, I think gathering figures are only worth it for the really big and/or complicated ones. If the figure is rather simple, I think I would rather give it a shot and paint them myself.
