New Detolfs get!

Posted by Blowfish On June - 1 - 2009

Heres another short post by me! After my ridiculous package there was only one thing to do: Visit Ikea and buy 2 more pieces of everyones favorite cabinet!

I drove to Ikea after work and did build the first one the next day before work and the last one after work.Finally none of my figures has to fear that dreaded dust anymore.My flat tends to get dusty rather fast and it was a pain to see them turn into dust magnets.My options for displaying the Detolfs is rather limited and i decided to use the free space in my bedroom for them.You probably wonder why theres such a big gap between the two cabinets but the answer is rather simple: The walls arent straight and it looks like crap when they are placed next to each other.Thats a house build in the 50s for you! :P

Im actually really tempted to place my third detolf in the bedroom aswell since it tends to get in the way in the living room.Ill worry about that later though.

Now onto the next topic:

I think Coco asked if the Re-ment Kotatsu set works with Figmas and heres your answer:

I wasnt too keen on changing the poses of my action figures so i just inserted them into the already existing scene

As you can see Re-ment stuff works pretty well with Figma/Revoltech Scale and this offers a whole new range of possibilities in terms of accessories and props.Ill check out the other Re-ment stuff aswell!So why did I actually buy that Kotatsu?Well…expect a new chapter in the abduction of a certain someone as soon as i have time and did all the other work that piled up here.

And now for something completly different: The weather was nice a few days ago and I decided to spend some of my rare time outside with my camera.Those shots arent great but they are atleast something I can offer at the moment.

Enjoy

A good place for a Horo Shoot?

Bees are kinda adoreable as long as they dont sting^^

A bees butt

OMG Fish! You should have seen me goe crazy over some stupid fish!This River is actually as good as dead due to the 1900s idustry and the chemicals that were released into it.The first time ive ever seen fish (and THIS big) in the river.I even took a Video as proof for my family and friends!I have no idea what kinda fish they are but they gotta be tough

So does anyone know anything about fish?

And last a picture with old people from our park:

I promise to get back to figure related stuff as soon as possible! ^^,,

BTW: Theres supposed to be a second big HLJ anniversary Sale on June 1st :D

Giving back some love!

    The shelf with the nendoroids look so cute ^^

    I fully understand how you feel about the faulty construction. My school’s new physical sciences lab building is also crooked. Took the physics department a while to realize why carts are moving when no force is applied XD

    For the Horo shoot, I suggest returning to that location in the fall, when all the grass are yellow, since that’ll represent the harvest season better, but that’s not for a few more months.

    I went location scouting yesterday as well for shoots, and pretty much the only good place nearby is a creek. The water seems clean enough, but do you think the stuff in the water will damage the figure? I’m thinking of having GIft Saber stand in the water.

    I need to return to figure shoots as well, but currently my hands are full with that garage kit >.<

    Nice display set up you have there ^^. I need to get something like those Detolfs. Having to regularly dust my figures is an annoyance >_<

  3. Roy Said,

    Whoa awesome display bro, your figures look well protected ^^ as for mine their enduring a blizzard of dust XD

    The weather looks nice their, and the grass is so thick n green, over here it’s usually close to dry or on fire ^^

    the river looks nice too and the fish are cool ^^ They could be shad or maybe some kind of trout but not too sure since the waters a little murky ^^ and as for them surviving, well I guess in time they adapt :)
    I expect a photoshoot whenever you can :D

  4. YuKi-To Said,

    Hm, I think some dust can still get through the detolf, as it has gaps on the cabinet door.

    Looks like a nice shoot location there ^^

  5. Tier Said,

    My figures still get all dusty inside my Detolf. Admittedly this is probably because I messed up while putting it together and left gaps everywhere. I think I nearly killed myself trying to haul my one cabinet into my home, I don’t even want to think how I’d feel after moving two of them.

    The little tentacle monster crawling over the oranges is pretty cool XD

    Nice detolfs, I’ll stick to regular dusting and bathing my figures for now cuz not only do I not Ikea, or room for shelves, but I prefer to have them easily accessible right now XD That futatsu looks pretty cool, wish I could motivate myself to buy accessories like that, but every time I think about it another figure gets in the way of getting them. Also like the park pictures, not sure what kind of fish those are buy Riiana might have an idea. That river looks like the stream in my grandma’s backyard XD

    I really enjoyed this post. Those were really beautiful pictures and I liked your fish video. I studied them a little bit because it was part of my biology course, so it was just the usual fare. The last shot is my favorite of them all.

    They couldn’t start the sale at the worst possible time when I was @ WORK!!!! >_<
    Still, i didn’t leave empty handed. xD

    So they way it goes is, more figures, more detolfs right? xD
    I managed to re-orgainise my room a bit and found more display space. It won’t last long when this sales loot comes in. -_-

    @GnDynames
    Well the Horo Shoot has been done already since I didnt wanna wait until fall.Youre right about it though!
    Concerning Saber and the Creek: I dont think that the Water will damage her in any way.Some figure collectors clean their figures by washing them and I dont think that a creek will contain any harming substances or particles.Hell,Ive seen figures that were in swimmung pool water and they didnt take any harm.So why should simple water damage her?
    Just make sure to properly dry her and everthings should be alright

    Take this shoot of my brother as reference:
    http://hamasho.wordpress.com/2008/10/23/saber-maaaster-life-threatening-adventures/

    Water wasnt really clear but the figure looked as good as before

    @anon_object
    Detolfs arent 100% Dustfree since it has rather large gaps but it reduces the amount of dust that gathers largely.Theres nothing more annoying than having to dust off your figures regulary.

    @Roy
    Yeah,the fishes probably adapted to the harsh enviroment.I wouldnt even think about eating them though XD
    The Area I live in is really,really different depending on where you are.Im living in a biiiiiiig Urban Area and those fields make it look like im in the landside ^^

    @Yuki-to
    Yeah it does get through the gaps but it still reduces the amount of dusting greatly.What do you expect of a 39,90€ Cabinet when others cost about 300?

    @Snark
    Yeah,after Sushi Gekkas now hooked up on mandarins

    @Feldi
    Yeah,you really get Value for Money with the Detolfs.They arent really dustsealed but the fact that you can buy a whole bunch of them for the price of ONE dust sealed cabinet speaks for itself

    @Leonia
    Oh Only Three?I thought youd have more figures ^^;

    @Persocom
    Dang! You found out I took those pictures in your grandmas backyard.Awesome Combination!Actually only the last picture is from the park the others are from totally different areas.Re-ment stuff isnt that expensive.Just check some of it out at HLJ/HS

    @Jem
    You actually really enjyoed them?Atleast I pleased one person with my pictures^^
    I really felt bad for not posting anything relevant.Sunlight makes the oddest places look really nice.The same locations on a cloudy day dont look as nice

    @optic
    Haha yeah thats the way it goes!
    I got weak once again this time.Ordered Alters Rei and Gift Yoko.Thats just the natural reaction when you see your 4 weeks ago released Sakura Nankyou for 30% off haha

    @Jay
    Haha yeah and I could finally hang it straight aswell.^^

    Sadly I have no Ikea stores near me. I wanted to buy the $10 Ikea glass shelves but shipping was $20 for one. Oh well I found some nice white shelves that suite the room.
