Sexy Succubus Morrigan
Blowfishs back! You may wonder where Ive been but I can assure you that I wasnt trapped in a timeloop for 8 Episodes.I merely enjoyed my first week of my 2 week vacation.Lets start my second week with a bang!I proudly present you my biggest and so far most expensive PVC figure: good ol` Morrigan of Darkstalkers fame! Hit the Jump and lose some hitpoints!
Ive gotta admit that my Morrigan experiences so far have been limited to the ” Capcom vs.” series and its infinitely recycled Morrigan sprite.Im glad that she finally got a makeover for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom and I cant wait for the Euro release.Anyways…Morrigan is a Succubus and shes dressed as any Succubus should: sexy as hell (and probably uncomfortable as hell aswell).The Artwork shes based on is one of the Artworks Nishimura did for either Marvel vs.Capcom 2 or Capcom vs. SNK 2.Its not like you guys care anyways…:D

Her Design isnt really what todays moe-moe market is looking for and I see alot people beeing turned down by her rather muscular appearance and prominent hips.Lets face it doing a succubus`job requires strong,muscular hips(and big boobs) ^^
I on the other hand totally love her design from the slightly tilted twist,up to her hands playing with her hair.The conversion from 2D to 3D was flawless as expected of Max Factory and a 12800 Yen figure.While the figure is spot on and huge for a 1/6 figure (35cm!!!) theres a downside to the whole package: the base.Max Factory was penny-pinching when they created the base and it isnt strong enough to withstand the poor girls weight.It isnt anything serious at the moment( just a lil shifting back and forth) but who knows how the whole thing looks in half a year.I hope that she wont lean due to Max Factory stingyness.
The shoot for this figure proved rather difficult this time due to her height.Its nearly impossible to get good lighting with my current equipment and that reminds me again that I should save up some money for better gear.I wonder when that days will come XD
I tried to some pictures with heavy shadows this time to underline her seductive pose and they are eve harder to pull off than imagined.Out of the whole bunch I shot only a few turned out useable.I really like the effect I got with it but youll be the judge.

Those are some thick thighs, but not quite Chun Li calibur xD
I never did play Darkstalkers but it’s hard to not recognize her anyway ^^ She certainly looks great in figure form.

Really nice figure. I wasn’t a huge fan of Morrigan though. Really love the photos in the set, especially the last ones with the shadows. I know those are really hard to pull off.
The base doesn’t look too bad in the photo, but I can see her breaking the pegs easily.

I thought about getting Morrigan but I’m not really a big Darkstalkers fan. She looks great to me, though (admittedly, I wouldn’t know what moe is if it came up to me and stabbed me in the crotch).
I hear what you’re saying about trying to generate strong shadows. I remember it took me hours to photograph my Exelica figure because I was trying to get a sharp contrast with harsh lighting and heavy shadows, and in the end t didn’t work out nearly as well as I had hoped.

12800 yen for a figure is way to much, Fate and Nanoha from Alter have the same price
.
This figure Morrigan is the typical “hourglass” woman which is not bad but I guess they kinda exaggerated a bit in the waist, to many muscles and the hip bones are a bit large. To contradict this they’ve toned up the leg muscles which is a good counter to the hips.
The breasts have been nicely done because they don’t like two inflated balloons as we see in many figures, especially on Morrigan because she has always been generous in terms of breast size. Being a character of DarkStalkers it would be expected that the sculptor would make some large hands and they did it.
Overall it’s a very nice figure indeed.

I cant really pinpoint what Moe exactly is either but theres too much of it in the recent releases.Its some kinda guts feeling that tells you what moe is and whatnot.
Yeah,doing such a setup is quite a bitch.It took me so long and only few turned out how I wanted.I dont do any postprocessing so maybe theres some room to improvement.

I was really thinking of cancelling her due to her price but ended up getting her nevertheless.Its definately a steep price but I had the chance and grabbed it.Better Safe than Sorry is the Status Quo when it comes to figure collecting^^

I would like to use these type of analysis before a figure is released but the manufacturers sometimes like to surprise us for the best or for the worst. But I always try to look throughly through a figure before getting her ^_^.

I cant be that objective with figures.The sculpt and paint quality isnt always the priority for me so I sometimes end up with far less than spectacular figures ^-^
