Small Magazine Loot

Posted by Blowfish On October - 28 - 2009

I went to a Job Interview today and since I was in Düsseldorf I thought that I might aswell pick up some Magazines.The Megami Magazine freebies arent anything out of the usual but the Dengeki Daioh had quite a cool freebie this time.Check it out after the Jump!

It seems that I picked up the 200th Volume of the Dengeki Daioh and as a goodie they added a BiriBiri X Koroko T-Shirt for free.Its the first time Ive seen a Magazine coming with a T-shirt and its a pretty sweet goodie in my opinion.You cant expect Cospa Quality from a freebie and therefore the fabric is a bit thin.I dont plan to wear Anime T-shirts regulary anyway :P

So yeah this is officially my very first Manga/Anime T-shirt!Im not too hot on spending money on  expensive shirts .In my opinion T-shirts with a more decent artwork that probably only people that are into the matter will recognize are a better way to show your love instead of a huge print of your favorite girl in an embarassing pose.This Black Lagoon Shirt for example is pretty rad in my opinion and I could imagine wearing it while this Queens Blade T-shirt will make you look like a total idiot.Youre actually promoting the bad image we are facing with this and many other T-Shirts.I know that my view on this is kinda harsh but I am so seldom critical that I might as well be so today.

The BiriBiri Shirt came in a very interesting size: free. I can only guess whats that supposed to mean but id say that this means One Size fits all.Then theres this long list with Attention in big bold letters ontop but I guess those are the washing instructions.Id be grateful if someone could translate it for me though.Itd be kinda bad if it means when youre wearing this shirt youll get bald :P

I bet you wonder if I fit into this shirt right?And guess what?My Body qualifies for  a Shirt of the free class! I would show you a picture of me wearing  that shirt but taking a picture of yourself is quite hard.Luckily a friendly ninja who owes me one (for saving his life,the usual stuff you know) jumped by and he miraculously has the same body build as me and agreed to model for me.Why model for me?Well,hes an oldschool ninja and cant do anything beside jumping around and beeing awesome.Do you really expect him to be able  to operate my camera?

Thank you mysterious Ninja!

Oh yeah and before I forget it…This stuff came with the Megami Magazines: a pencilboard depicting Saber and Rin on one side and some stupid loli meido on the other.One of the two B2 Posters features the same Fate/Stay Night Artwork as the pencil board and some other series while the other one features BiriBiri & co at the beach and a Nanoha Artwork on the other side. If youre interested in the latter one check Optics Review

Now excuse me I need to get rid of that Ninja….

Giving back some love!

    Free size t-shirt! One size fits all I suppose? ^^;

    Nice magazine loots there! So Optic has promptly got you to buy them effectively~ I’ve never seen what’s inside the Dengeki Daioh one before, so I’m curious to know what’s in there!

    Man, I love loot posts, especially if there’s a mysterious ninja involved. Should’ve let him keep the shirt as thanks! (Okay maybe not) So jealous that you were able to get that issue of Moeoh wao. That Gunslinger Girl cover is so nice..!!

    Also, here are the washing instruction translations. Don’t want to ruin that (Size:) FREE shirt!
    - Avoid soaking in water for a long period of time.
    - After washing, quickly straighten out the shirt to dry.
    - Avoid using the dryer for uh, drying.
    - Avoid ironing the printed part of the shirt (Or else Mikoto’s face will…)
    Lastly, the shirt is 100% cotton.

  4. Tier Said,

    I got one anime t-shirt, from one of the Noir DVDs. It actually looks pretty cool, it’s got Kirika slinging her gat. I’ve also got a Soul Calibur t-shirt with Ivy on the front. That one I’d feel real weird wearing outside my home. Or even inside.

    Hope the interview went well!

    Hehe, having a shop where you can get those is nice.

    So you have oldschool Ninjas living around you? Interesting^^

    Nice loot! ^^

    That Biribiri shirt is pretty neat. But not sure I get what you mean by not liking those anime shirts with girls on them. I don’t see anything wrong with that Airi shirt, looks ok to me.
    Have quite a bit of anime shirts that I even wear at work. If that makes people there think I’m an idiot then so be it,n I couldn’t give a damn what they think anyway. XD

    Also very nice of that ninja to pose with it. So he’s like your friendly neighborhood ninja? Nin nin! XD

  7. Guy Said,

    After seeing Optic’s review I ordered Megumi 114. There was something else I wanted, but it was OoS at HLJ. Maybe Nyantype? Probably Megumi Creators’ Deluxe.

    Saber and Rin pencilboard for the win! Though I’d like me a nice free dakimakura cover :D

    Seriously, I want one of the blogs I cover to tell me what freebies each magazine will have, at least 2-3 weeks before the magazine is released, so I could order before it comes out. You know?

    That Black Lagoon shirt is hot, though Airi is pretty good too. I should take photos of my couple dozen comic T-Shirts… very few anime/manga. Most look good regardless of whether you know the origin or not.

    @Q
    Thats the only logical explanation I could think of aswell ^^;
    Yeah,Optic got me there….:P

    Oh the Dengeki Daioh is a Monthly manga zasshi that houses Mangas like Gunslinger Girl,Shakugan no Shana,GL,ToraDora,Tsukihime,Blood Alone and whatnot.I could of course snatch some pictures of it iof you wanna.It isnt anything spectacular though

    @polymetrica

    First off thank you for translating the washing directions!
    If youre interested to look for that specific issue its the September 09 issue of the Daioh.Easily spotted by the Gunslinger Girl Congratulations Cover :P

    @Tier
    Rrrrrrr Ivy…. :P
    Like I said Im not a big fan of those Anime Tshirts.I can imagine that Ivy is presenting her assest quite openly right? ^^
    Cant tell how it went but im fairly positive.I had another one today and tomorrow will be my third job interview.I hope one of those turns out great.

    @Hikky
    Düsseldorf is pretty rad for those kind of things but we dont really have that much Otaku Shops either.Its basically two shops: OCS and Takagi books
    Yeah, I didnt know either that he lives in the neighbourhood

    @Smithy
    Hmmm…how could I explain my problem with anime shirts…I do think that they very often lack style and try to overcome this with a big fat print of a sexy anime babe on the front or the back.I dislike all those Metal Band shirts for exactly the same reason.They dont look very good imho and are clustered with all kinda funky prints.

    This is just one of my quirks though.nevermind that :P

    @Guy
    Ah I basically order only the Dengeki Festival Issues via HLJ because shipping is quite expenisve due to the magazines weight.This adds up quite alot and in the end it doesnt make much of a difference if I pick the issue up overe here or order it.
    The advantage of buying it in a shop here is that you can browse through it beforehand and youll know what kinda posters youll get.

    HLJ runs pretty fast out of stock with these magazines aswell.You basically have to preorder them without knowing what youll end up with.Thats why I have 2 freebie Dakimakuras and no oppimousepad :(

    Yeah,I would prefer a Blog to cover that too.I sadly dont have the connections to do that so someone else has to do that.If youre looking for a dakimakura you should definately preorder some Dengeki Festival issues.They come most of the time with dakimakuras and the quality is actually pretty good for a freebie.

    Got a link to those shirts?In my opinion most shirts of this kind lack in the style department ^^

    Not the greatest shirt ever, but its not too shabby. I wouldn’t mind having to wear that in public, but then again, I’m also the guy who wears a shirt with a giant Gurren-Dan logo in public…

    Be sure not to wear that shirt to any interview. Ur giving an instant bad impression to begin with. lol
    Are u serious that ninja is not u or is he ur clone? :P

    Ur the 2nd person I was able to convince in getting Vol. 114. Looks like I’m ending my Megami Impression reviews on a high which is great and sad at the same time as it was my last review. :(

  14. Guy Said,

    Maybe I’ll take shots of some of my T-Shirts… most are too old to easily find a link online, I guess.

    I also have threadless.com T-shirts and such.

    I think HLJ somewhat overcharges for the magazines, partially because the box is big enough to house 4, even when you only buy one.

    And no shop locally to browse by… or I’d do that.

  16. Tommy Said,

    I agree with what you said about the choice of T-shirt people wear. Most of the typical stereotypes doesn’t come without merit if you know what I mean. I think a anime T is more fit for wearing if it is more of a graphic (like that Revy T you showed) because it has more “artistic value” than a plain straight out of the box anime babe T-shirt.

    @phossil

    That happens to me about twice a week so yeah I would call that the usual stuff ^^

    @Snark
    Hey,actually the Gurren Dan Shirt has my total approval.Its pretty cool,even stylish and signals your love for the anime.Thats what Im talking about :P

    @lyli
    I cant tell so far if it went well.Ill hear from them the next monday/tuesday.Yeah,it was pretty nice of that ninja ^^

    @optic
    I dont plan on doing that :p
    Come on lets stay real im a average white Dude theres no way I could be a Ninja XD
    I just realized that youre cutting your costs.Its a shame since I always knew if a Volume was worth the cash or not

    @Guy
    Yeah,the price for shipping is quite steep thats why im usually buyng locally when its the Megami.Ifd you feel like doing that please share ^^

    @Anon_object
    Welcome Brother in Arms!
    Im cool with that ninja becoming popular.Its basically 98% guy reading this blog so its not like im keen on beeing idolized by them ;-P

    @Tommy
    You summed up my words pretty good :P

  18. meronpan Said,

    ooo nice! i could use some anime swag at the moment :P

    if i understood you correctly i think i have the same opinions on anime clothing… i prefer the more subtle designs that just look cool regardless of whether or not you’re familiar with the show. ones with your waifu in some sexay pose aren’t something i’d wear in public so then… what’s the point? ^^; rather have a poster ^^
