Veteran Mercenary Echidna
If you frequent TsukiBoard and visited my profile,youll probably know my figure top five.Echidna is among my favorite figures ever made and will get the spotlight in todays review.Wonder why? Find out after the Jump!
Echidna is the second re-release of Megahouse`s older Queens Blade figures under the Special Edition label and she comes equipped with an extra goodie in form of some of Melonas uh…slime?I kinda wonder why they chose this as the “special” extra since as far as I know Melona and Echidna arent related in any form.Its interesting to see that they didnt add an extra weapon this time like with the other re-releases though.This actually proved to be a pretty smart move by Megahouse but more on that later.This Release has,like the other special editions, an improved paintjob which is for example visible on Echidnas shield.The original release featured a flat tone while the re-release has a shiny metallic paintjob that makes the shield look like its actually made if metal instead of flimsy PVC.
What can I say about Echidna?Lets start with her name since its taken from greek mythology and explains quite a bit about certain choices about her character.Echidna was a nymph with the upper body and face of a beautiful,seducing girl and the lower body of a snake.The Echidna of Greek Mythology is also known as mother of all monsters since she gave birth to all monsters of greek mythology.That itself is quite an achievement huh?XD
Echidnas Character design seems to borrow quite a few ideas from that and swapped the serpent body with something more attractive and reasonable: a snake used as pantsu.Echidnas Personality has the same seducing and aggressive undertone as her greek counterpart and was the doom of more than a few poor beeings.While the greek myth gave birth to alll greek monsters this Echidna gave “birth” to a “monster” called Irma by raising her as a ruthless Assassin thats supposed to take over her role.
I never thought that knowing greek mythology would prove this useful 
The Echidna of the Queens Blade Universe is a rather mysterious Character with very few background Information even though she plays a major role throughout the whole series.It is known that she hasa few hundreds years of experience on her shoulders and was once the leader of the assassins of the fang which is basically the secret service of the Queen.The rest of her past is shrouded in mysteries and shes now earning her money as a mercenary and is partaking in the Queens Blade tournament even though she has no ambition to become Queen.

This figure was sculpted by Osiris after an S.F. design and was originally released in 2007.This figure pretty much became an instant classic and even spawned back then quite a few alternate versions.She sold out pretty fast and I never expected to get my hands on her until MH announced the re-release of her.I already talked about how bad figures age in my Airi review but Echidna aged alot better than Airi.This could of course be due to the fact that Echidna doesnt wear as much clothes as Airi does ^^
Talking about clothes…The cast-off process of the figure is pretty easy even though you dont get instructions by Megahouse.The cast-on process proves alot trickier though and I had quite a hard time to make her wear her clothes again.The paintjob is the usual good Megahouse quality with the earlier mentioned improvements over the original release and I havent noticed any flaws yet.The whole sculpt is great for a 07 figure with some minor seamlines on her legs and lets be honest her pose is freaking awesome.I totally love her bent over pose combined with that look on her face.Yumiru and Airi which are also from 07 have by faaaaaaaar less interesting poses but this one makes me go in fanboy mode.
Remember when I wrote that her extra is actually a good addition to this figure?Truth be told theres a prominent flaw about this figure but its practically only visible when shes casted-off.Osiris somehow managed to give her a really,really thin waist line and depending on your viewing angle it looks like shes trying out a new 0 calorie diet.Melonas slime nicely covers that area and makes her thin waist less obvious which is a good thing and powers up the ecchi factor a 100%

Wow nice photos. This figure actually looks quite nice on yours. I somehow couldn’t get thru face on this Megahouse QB fig but it looks quite better here.
I was surprised by her behaviour in anime. I thought she will be a villain and evil char. Somehow she was quite nice neutral or maybe even good and mentor char ^^;

As for the figure , yeah i’m not a fan of the character (probably the elf ears that bugs me) but i do like this one anyway . The armor parts looks really nice .
But too much boobs for me , it scares me :p

I actually never really liked Echidna’s character design from the beginning, however, the way she handled herself in the story sorta won me over, awesome character really! And nice figure btw~

I was as suprised as you when I saw Echidna in the Anime.I thought aswell that shes supposed to be the main antagonist but nope ^^

I like where that snake is going in that picture of Echidna battling Reina.
Really nice pictures! Especially with the transparent tentacle. I wasn’t a big fan of Echidna at the start but I like her much more now. The anime should have had explored her relationship with young Irma in more comprehensive detail.

Nice photoshoot and that Echidna figure looks lovely! Tempted to get her actually, she’s one of my favorite “Queen’s Blade” characters too, she really grew on me over the past two seasons. ^^

she looks pretty good, don’t really know her character, still need to catch up on my Queen’s Blade. One of these days I’m going to sit down and marathon the first season and then start on the second one. I’m so lazy ~_~ Only thing I think could be improved is some detail in the crotch, don’t really understand why so many figures don’t dare to be realistic there, if the Revoltechs can do it why can’t these? Oh well stupid complaint anyway.

Haha, the chocoloate coins – gimme some! That’s a nice touch for the photoshooting. Echidna definitely looks hot! Megahouse is slowly rising up to the rank of top tier figure company… Just look at the details of Echidna! However she’s too mature for my taste.

This is another great figure from Queen’s Blade. A very dynamic pose and a detailed costume.
On a related note, it’s so unfortunate that so many good figures come from such a crappy show. Or I guess that’s a good thing, as it redeems the anime a bit.

Echidna was rather easy to cast off but getting her clothed again was pretty difficul.You have to pull her vest/jacket with quite some force to get it in the right position.Otherwise her left arm wont slide completley into the corresponding hole and you have one weird looking figure.

I wish that they would have explored her a little bit more aswell.It doesnt look like well get more insight into ther relationship though judging from the last two episodes it seems that this was their last apperance in the anime.

I am glad that Characters like these have atleast some fans since it seems that not too many people like her.Ive searched about an hour for some images of her and nearly none showed up
I totally forgot that you have to order one of their holiday items aswell.I didnt find anything particulary interesting there either.

Marathoning QB would be hardcore! The first season can be quite exhausting and I wouldndt watch it in one go.The second season on the other hand should prove to be quite a blast in a marathon.I cant understand why they arent sculpting their figures some labia aswell.Like you mentioned the QB Revoltechs are fully equipped and Ive seen other realistic PVC Figures aswell.
Id really like to know why they dont add that little extra effort to their figures.
As an interesting fact Melona seems to be sculpted with care down there but her slime covers most of and you can only see the outer labia.

Ive already said it in my other reviews but Megahouse is getting better from release to release.One of the greatest things about this is that they pretty much still have the same pricetag like 2 years ago while Alter and GSC often hit the 8000-9000 Yen mark with their newer releases.

I actually dont own that many QB Figures.I am owning 7 scaled QB figures and 8 scaled Ikki Tousen figures at the moment.Ikki Tousen is still in the lead

I dont know if you noticed before but Ecchi Shows/Eroges usually spawn the best Character designs since those shows usuallly rise or fall depending on their character design.Naturally theres alot of effort put into the characters to appeal to the audience.The first season of QB was indeed very bad with its nearly non existing storyline and heavy fanservice.The Second Season is,believe it or not ,alot better with a little less fanservice and a clear continuation throughout the episodes through the tournament battles.The first season proved to be a mere character introduction while the second season actually starts to tell a story.
I doubt that anyone who hasnt got a heart for ecchi shows will like it though ^^

echidna is just one of those characters i totally don’t think twice about (being desensitized to fan service and suggestive anime stuff ^^;) but taking a second to think about her… she has a *snake* covering her crotch? … … ^^;;; queen’s blade doesn’t let me down hahaha

Well, I didn’t manage to marathon but I’ve completed the first season, and even got my wife to sit through it so I’ve seen it twice now as of tonight. On episode 3 of the second season and I think Echidna is one of my favorite characters from the show now.

The thing I have with it is that I have never been a fan of the show. I think it’s just a bit too much for me…bordline H I like to call it…

Nice review.
She’s definitely a better figure than Airi, but I just found a new love in the QB line. And it’s not Echidna. I had her on pre-order, but dropped her along with a couple other figures because of all the delays earlier this year. Looking at your photos makes me kinda regret it, but only kinda.
You have some really unique taste in character choice. A side note, I love that scene in the first season where Echidna was fighting Reina in the oiled up arena. XD

Isnt it funny that youre only reminded about beeing desensitized when youre hanging out with “normal” people.To me its a totally resonable fashion choice to wear a snake as thong…atleast in anime kingdom.
The snake is alive in the anime but in the visual battle books shes just a plain pantsu.

Many people seem to have the wrong impression about QB though.It is an ecchi show theres no doubt about it but it is actually quite a decent show after the character introduction
